Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career with KYW Radio and TV as a Philadelphia reporter in 1967. 1996, she became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She was hired by NBC News Washington two years after that as an general reporter. Beginning in 1981 she started reporting from the White House. In 1988, she became head of the congressional reporters. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House correspondent in 1992 and the chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a guest as a guest on TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. She served as a panelist during the presidential debates in 1988 with George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at The John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her work in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell covered for the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news stories such as arm control, budget taxes as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to various summits while in the company of President Reagan along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
